What is Orthotics & Prosthetics?
Orthotics and Prosthetics (O&P) is the evaluation, fabrication, and custom fitting of artificial limbs (prosthetics) and orthopedic braces (orthotics). O&P is an allied health profession and forms part of the Health Profession Counsel of South Africa (HPCSA).
Orthotics
Orthotics are orthopaedic appliances that enhance or support a body part. They’re there for commonly referred to as braces, guards or supports.
Prosthetics
As Prosthetist we are trained to design, manufacture and fit prosthesis to replace a missing body part as a result of an amputation.
Compression Stockings
Compression Stockings and Sleeves are elastic garments worn around the leg and/or arm compressing the limb to help cure many conditions.
